When Stone Temple Pilots fired their lead singer Scott Weiland earlier this year, we assumed that they would resurface with somebody new.

We did not think it would be Linkin Park's Chester Bennington.

But, at a Los Angeles concert, Stone Temple Pilots made a surprise appearance.  Chester Bennington handled the singing.

Bennington belted out Stone Temple Pilots' hits like Vasoline, Interstate Love Song, and Wicked Garden.  He also performed a song he recently recorded with the band, Out of Time.

Both STP and Bennington have made it clear that Chester's number one priority is Linkin Park.  Stone Temple Pilots' Dean DeLeo says:

“Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time.  We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together.  We managed to find the time to record a song and we’re all really happy with the result.”

Bennington tweeted that his band is working on new music.

But, it is possible that Bennington could split time between Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots.  That remains to be seen.
