Do not expect a new System of a Down album anytime soon.

Front-man Serj Tankian is busy working on multiple solo projects including a jazz album called Jazz-iz-Christ.  When Artist Direct asked him about recording new music with System of a Down, Tankian said:

"A new record requires three years. It's not something I can do right now. When I can commit to a three-year album cycle, I'll be down to do it."

System of a Down last released an album in 2005.  They took several years off before reuniting in 2011.  Since then, the band has been playing concerts.  But, there has been no new music.

The lack of new music has frustrated fans and members of the band.  Bassist Shavo Odadjian took to his Facebook page to voice his displeasure on the lack of new music from the band.  He pointed the blame directly at Tankian.
