Dangerous Jellyfish type creatures washing ashore on Carolina Beaches

They are beautiful.  They can be deadly.  It's one of the most dangerous species of jellyfish known to man and they are washing up in droves on North Carolina beaches right now.  They are known as "Portuguese man o’ wars."  Unlike jellyfish, which is one organism, the man o war are a colony of organisms living in symbiotic harmony.

If you’re planning on visiting a Carolina beach over the next few weeks, officials are now advising beach goers to carry jellyfish sting ointment with them in case of stings.
