Driver Charged After Charlotte Teen Killed While Riding Bike

The driver who allegedly struck and killed 18-year-old Miquase "Mikey" Maddox, a beloved high school basketball player, has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. Maddox was riding his bike in the University City area earlier this month when the incident occurred.

According to police, Dylan Leviner turned himself in on Wednesday and was charged. Police say Leviner was speeding around 1 a.m. back on August 11 when he struck the bike that Maddox was riding. It occurred on Old Concord Road near Suther Road.

Maddox's obituary described him as being known for his joyful personality: "Mikey was multifaceted with many layers of success. We all know he was a phenom on the basketball court, but over the past few years, he started exploring his passion for music, writing and performing potential hit records for his closest friends and family.  His spirit was gravitating and star presence undeniable."
