North Carolina Drug Bust Turns Out to Be Sugar, Not Fentanyl

Back in July, one of the biggest drug busts the state of North Carolina has ever seen was reported after authorities found what they believed to be fentanyl. Turns out the substance was...sugar. Yep, you read that right. Sugar. 

After being tested, The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the 13 pounds of white powder seized in the high-profile drug bust was indeed sugar. Not the opiod that would run for about $2 million on the street. 

William Roderick McIntire, 50, Charles Alexis Batts, 46, and Wanda Gray Moore, 51, were charged with a string of drug offences following the bust at the address in Wilmington, North Carolina in July, according to Newsweek.
