Oven Roasted or Deep Fried....

It happens every year around this time.  The debate begins.... which is better - traditional oven roasted turkey or a quick - moist deep fried bird.

Just so we are on the same page - there is NO way to win this argument.  You'll lose 50% of your friends either way.    It's like if you ask....Republican or Democrat.  You will have 49.5% of your friends on your side and turn 49.5% of the others against you.  Don't worry about the other 1% we don't care about them either way.

Me, personally?   I have to be honest.  I totally agree that the chances of a deep fried bird coming out moist are dramatically better.   Every year -  EVERY YEAR the #1 question posed by the bird preparer is...."is it dry, did I over cook it,  I hope it's not too dry...."   and so on.

So if you want to reduce the risk of having a dry bird - you deep fry.

For me, the thing I like most about the traditional bird is the smell of Thanksgiving in the house. NOTHING smells better (well except maybe bacon in the frying pan).

I would imagine you could deep fry everything, and anything.  It would be much quicker...but I'm not sure quicker is always better.  I'll have my burgers on the grill, the turkey in the oven...and my fries...well duh,  the fries get "fried"
