Justin Timberlake To Drop 'Filthy' Single On Friday

The long wait is almost over. A day after Justin Timberlake made the Timbernation shudder with joy by announcing that his fifth solo album, Man Of The Woods, would drop on February 2, the singer gave them even more to celebrate on Wednesday (January 3). Yes, you will have some new Timbertunes as of Friday (January 5), when the album's first single and video, "Filthy," will be released.

The song, co-produced by Timberlake and his longtime partner in crime Timbaland (as well as Danja), was written with James Fauntleroy and Larrance Dopson. According to a press release announcing the single, the "colorful, futuristic" video was directed by the legendary Mark Romanek (Nine In Nails, Johnny Cash, JAY-Z) is described as being "dance heavy," with Timberlake acting as a "modern day inventor presenting his latest creation to the world."

By the way, on Wednesday, JT cautioned fans that "Filthy" should be played "VERY LOUD."

The release describes Man Of The Woods as his "most ambitious album to date, both sonically and lyrically. Combining the sounds of traditional American rock with the modern influences of collaborators The Neptunes, Timbaland, Chris Stapleton, and Alicia Keys, this new material explores storytelling inspired by his son, his wife, and his personal journey from Memphis to where he is today."

The singer will unleash three additional videos following "Filthy" in the lead-up to the album's release, each with their own "individual style and color" from three different directors. The three songs will be released every week beginning January 18. And, in case you forgot, Timberlake will headline the Pepsi Super Bowl LII halftime show on Sunday, February 4, just two days after Man is released.

An exclusive version of the album will be available at Target, featuring unique cover art, a poster and a digital download code. Target will also be home to a special vinyl edition of Man Of The Woods, which will be available for presale the day "Filthy" is released.

Man of the Woods is the first full-length album from the 36 year-old singer since Sept. 2013's The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2. Check out the album trailer below.
