Charlotte Stakes Claim as Soccer City: Relevent Sports Group & Bank of America Stadium Reach 5-year Deal
Queen City to host International Champions Cup for next five years and this year’s House of Soccer
CHARLOTTE, NC – Relevent Sports Group (RSG) announced a first-of-its-kind deal with Bank of America Stadium to bring the International Champions Cup (ICC) to Charlotte for the next five years. This marks the first long-term deal between RSG and a host city, highlighting Charlotte’s commitment to bringing major soccer events to the Queen City. In addition, RSG announced that it has chosen Charlotte to host the 2019 House of Soccer, a premium, high-touch experience bringing together the community, athletes, clubs, artists and influencers to live and breathe soccer and the culture that surrounds it.
“Today’s announcement is a big deal for our community and puts Charlotte at the epicenter of soccer’s rapid growth in the United States,” said Carolina Panthers President Tom Glick. “Charlotte’s reputation as a soccer city is driven by the passion of our fans, who continue to display their commitment to the game by attending matches and playing soccer at all ages, and the growing drumbeat of fans calling for a top-level domestic team.”
Bank of America Stadium will host its fifth ICC match this summer when Arsenal takes on ACF Fiorentina on July 20. This year’s match also marks the first of the new five-year deal announced today to bring world class international soccer to Charlotte.

Charlotte will also be the only city this summer to host House of Soccer. The event will be held July 1920 at Romare Bearden Park and S. Mint Street. House of Soccer is an immersive pop-up experience bringing together the community, fans, clubs, artists and influencers to celebrate a common bond through their passion for soccer. House of Soccer will offer unique access to clubs, players, live entertainment, soccer fanatics and freestylers for fans to interact with the sport on multiple levels.
This year’s event will be bring all things soccer to Charlotte with live music, skill zones, food trucks, a Bud Light beer garden, gaming stations and an open invitation for fans to show their soccer chops on the pitch alongside some of the sport’s greatest local influencers. Emceed by comedians and podcasters the “Soccer Cooligans,” House of Soccer will also feature a live performance by singer/songwriter Walker Hayes and a one-of-a-kind fan prep zone where soccer lovers can get game-ready with face paint, temporary tattoos, hair-braiding and more. On Saturday, July 20, fans can join together for a supporters’ march into Bank of America stadium to catch Arsenal vs. ACF Fiorentina live in the Queen City.
Relevent Sports Group (RSG) today announced that Megan Rapinoe will lead the star-studded attendance at House of Soccer on July 20 at Romare Bearden Park, which will be a premium, high-touch experience bringing together the community, athletes, clubs, artists, and influencers to live and breathe soccer and the culture that surrounds it.
Rapinoe was awarded the FIFA Women’s World Cup Golden Ball, the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Player of the Match in the 2019 Women’s World Cup, after defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in the final game. Rapinoe scored the first goal on a penalty kick. She was the tournament’s top scorer, and fan favorite beloved for her signature celebration stance.
Joining the weekend’s events on Friday, July 19th, is Carolina Courage Teammate and World Cup Champion Heather O’Reilly (2015). Across the two-days, additional local star power will be on hand including Charlotte Hornets Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller, as well as UNC alum and famous freestylers Indi and Skye Cowie. Each day’s festivities will be capped with a free concert with Grits and Biscuits and Walker Hayes.

Rapinoe will be hosting a skills training session with The Creative Player Foundation in the afternoon and throwing the ceremonial coin toss ahead of the match.
