Mother Arrested After Three-Month-Old Found With BAC Of .359%

An Ohio mother was arrested and charged with felony child abuse after she admitted to giving alcohol to her three-month-old baby. 32-year-old Davonna Reed took her infant daughter to Akron Children's Hospital when she became extremely sick in October.

Doctors treated the child in the Natal Intensive Care Unit and determined that the young girl had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .359%. A BAC of .40% or higher can be lethal for adults. After the girl recovered, she was released into the custody of Summit County Children Services.

Reed is facing felony charges of child endangerment and obstructing justice. Authorities did not explain how Reed tried to obstruct their investigation or why she decided to give her infant daughter alcohol. She is being held in Summit County Jail while investigators continue to look into the case.
