Much to the delight of fans, The National will be hitting up select US and Canadian cities on its world tour.
On Tuesday (February 18), the band announced the tour's extension with a dozen new headlining dates amongst the band's festival appearances.
After spending spring abroad in Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Ireland, The National will head stateside starting on July 15 in Shelburne, Vermont.
The National won't be traveling alone, Sharon Van Etten, Lucy Dacus, and Julia Jacklin will be joining the band at select tour dates. The public on-sale will start this Friday at 10 am local time. Plus, if you don't see a city near you listed, the band hinted on social media that more dates “may be announced.”
As for what fans can expect the band to play on tour, lead singer Matt Berninger opened up last year about starting to play older songs live again after sticking to songs off the new record.
“I used to want to stick to the songs from the new record on tour, but now I like throwing anything in on the setlist and trying to see what old songs sound like when we do them now," he explained. "When we do an old song, we’re almost always surprised by how much we like it. With any of your records, they kinda look like teenage photos capturing an adolescent period."
