Gerard Way Announces Release Date For Klaus' 'The Umbrella Academy' Comic

Just before we get season 2 of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, creator Gerard Way announced the release date for his highly-anticipated “Klaus” spin-off comic.

Announced this February, the My Chemical Romance singer revealed he was writing comics on the beloved Séance and his story would come in six issues. At the time, a September date was announced but on Wednesday (July 29), Way confirmed we can expect You Look Like Death: Tales From The Umbrella Academy Issue 1 to drop September 16!

“I’ve always wanted to explore Klaus’ back story and this new series covers his time in Hollywood and his battles with a vampiric drug lord in the 10 years preceding Apocalypse Suite,” Way wrote on Instagram.

For those unfamiliar with the comics, Apocalypse Suite is Volume 1 of The Umbrella Academy comic books and its six series ran from 2007-2008.

In addition to revealing the release date, Way also gave eager fans a sneak peek at the comic via an animated YouTube video.

“Los Angeles is a place where you can very easily lose sight of who you are, and that is what is happening to Klaus in this series,” Way explained to Forbes. “We see him develop stronger habits and explore more extreme things than he had before. Los Angeles is also a place with a strong dark side, as well as this undercurrent of the occult. It is also a place where somewhat nefarious people transplanted here can more easily thrive and spread out roots, so there’s a good chance Klaus runs the risk of getting chewed up and spit out.”

As for fans of the show's version of “Klaus,” The Umbrella Academy Season 2 premieres tomorrow (July 31).
