At least 10 police officers swarmed the home a British mom Thursday after they spotted what looked like a corpse wrapped in plastic outside her door -- only to discover it was an old Halloween decoration.
Bedfordshire resident Cara Louise, 28, says she hosted a circus-themed birthday party for one of her children earlier in the week and had used the Halloween decoration as part of the decor. Afterwards, she wrapped it in plastic and set it outside with the intention of putting it in storage at a later time, she says. But before that could happen, she found herself clearing her name in a murder investigation.
"I get out of the car to my neighbor standing there in which I ask jokingly, ‘What have you done?’," Louise says. "Then I was told the cops were all at my house as three people had called in to report a dead body." After officers realized they'd made a mistake, they apologized and left, Louise says.
