The 2016 American Music Awards nominations were announced on Monday. Check out the full list of AMAs nominees below.
Joe Jonas and Rachel Platten had the honor of revealing some of the nominations on “Good Morning America.” Not only was it a cool TV appearance for the two, but Jonas’ DNCE scored a nod for Best New Artist. Platten later found out she was nominated, too.
The American Music Awards annually celebrate the industry’s best artists. Nominations are based on sales data, radio airplay, social media followings and more. But it’s typically up to the fans to determine the winners through online voting.
And since the AMAs cover practically every genre of music, there’s usually a little something for everyone. But the biggest award, of course, is Artist Of The Year. This year’s contenders are Adele, Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Drake, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd.
That category is expected to get narrowed down as we get closer to the awards show. The 2016 ceremony is slated to take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 20. Gossip Cop, of course, will have full coverage. Check out the list of nominations below!
