The Avett Brothers were dear friends with Chris Cornell, even performing "Vanity" with him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on September 30, 2013, which you can watch above.
Scott and Seth Avett reached out to Jack Daniel this morning asking that we read and publish a statement from the band on Chris Cornell's passing:
"We have lost a dear friend and the world has lost one of its greatest voices. Chris Cornell was one of the kindest, funniest, and hardest working people who we have ever had the honor to know and to make music with. We will miss him terribly. Our love and deepest sympathy to his family... Scott and Seth Avett."
We extend our own condolences to Chris' family, friends and the music world as we remember him with all the amazing music he gave us.
