American Airlines Plane Returns to Charlotte after Engine Failure

An American Airlines flight that took off from Charlotte was forced to return after experiencing engine issues. The plane is now back on the ground after taking off around 7:45 a.m. and noticing issues minutes later. The pilot declared an emergency after the engine stalled and asked officials to meet the plane on the runway.

Both passengers and onlookers said they saw sparks coming out of the engine. No fire was visible and no one was injured.

“As we took off from Charlotte, there was a rattling and shaking on the plane,” Jesse Batson told Channel 9 News. “It was a very bumpy take-off.”

The plane was originally headed to Chicago. For more on the story, visit WSOCTV.com.
