Weed is now legal in 30 states for medical purposes (and if you're scoring at home-legal in 9 states for recreational use) and this number is expected to increase as the decision for legalization comes up on ballots again. But even in the "legal states" some cops are not letting anything slide. An 80 year old woman in Michigan was jailed for less than an eighth of marijuana- she has a medical marijuana card but it was expired. This particular police officer came to her home to return a few items to her granddaughter, smelled weed and then the interrogation, search and arrest followed.
