My mom has been at my house since last Thursday and left this morning to head back to Pembroke, NC. At this point, I'm not even sure if she'll be able to get there...there continues to be extensive flooding all across the Carolinas. I-95 is shut down in certain sections, parts of the Myrtle Beach area are right now being closed off as new areas begin to flood. Thousands of people have been displaced and either cannot get back home or don't have livable homes to return to. This isn't even taking into account destruction from the storm itself or the lasting effects of contaminated water. It may look sunny where you are, but we are still in Hurricane Florence. This continues to be the hard part and people need our help. The latest on the damage and ways to help below.
Operation NorthState now has Disaster Relief donation sites around the city. Now is the time for those of us virtually unaffected by Hurricane Florence to do what we can.
