Retro Review MCU: Iron Man

I decided to watch all of the cinematic releases in the Marvel Universe. While I enjoy these movies a lot, I have missed several of the films, particularly in Phase One. I am using a binge guide that was printed in Entertainment Weekly in March of 2018. I am watching the movies on Disney+. Let's start with the movie the started it all.

This is the first time I've watched the original Iron Man movie. I've enjoyed the Tony Stark character in other Marvel movies that I have seen (Captain America: Civil War, the Avengers). I like his sense of humor and how he says things other people only think. It was good to get the background on how he got that reactor in his chest and how he became Iron Man.

I did not like Terrence Howard in the role of War Machine/Rhodey. I was used to seeing Don Cheadle in that role. Howard's performance seemed much stiffer. The character did not come off as someone Tony Stark would have in his circle. Cheadle's performance was looser and much more likeable.

A good movie that is a great start to what I know will be an amazing series.
